Introduction

The British Institute of Technology & E-commerce (BITE) in collaboration with UK University partners and in association with industry offers a wide range of courses. These courses have been developed in consultation with business and government sectors to address the gap between industry and higher education. The range of courses include Masters degrees, covering MBA, LLM,  MA and MSc qualifications.  At undergraduate level, we offer courses with particular focus on business and technology.

We offer professional qualifications validated by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Our leadership and customised upskilling programmes support corporate and government departments to enhance performance and understanding. We offer vocational assessment (NVQ) for managers, supervisors, customer service and hospitality personnel.

BITE is also a British Council accredited test centre for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).  The IELTS test is available in two modules at BITE - Academic and General Training. The Academic Module is used by candidates for admission to undergraduate or postgraduate courses and for registration with professional bodies. The General Training Module emphasises basic survival skills in a broad social and educational context.

I am delighted to welcome you to the British Institute of Technology & E-commerce (BITE).

BITE has a reputation for innovative, progressive and flexible approaches to learning that develop highly marketable skills in its graduates. Now it is applying these same principles to the development of entrepreneurial and leadership skills for those talented executives and future executives who will contribute to wealth creation and poverty alleviation within a global context.

We live in a business environment that transcends cultures where, more than ever, innovative thinking and entrepreneurial approaches to business are essential. The challenges facing both developed and developing economies are enormous, yet the responses to these must be crafted in approaches that encompass the principles of sustainable economic development. Diversification away from the delivery of unsustainable products and services will take leadership in thought and deed, across businesses and governments alike.

The role of technology and the way in which it is used to make and distribute wealth globally has to be developed. Technologies need to be applied and used in ways that acknowledge the impact of a changing climate and the limitation on the availability of natural resources. That is why I welcome this new development of BITE. The sector specific MBA programmes focus on innovative and creative practices with emphasis on current challenges faced by executives. We will achieve this within the framework of multiculturalism that BITE has engendered since its establishment.

The British Institute of Technology and E-commerce has a great track record of global partnerships which specialise in keeping in with the latest innovations in technology and exploiting them in ways best suited for the partner country.

Leadership and Management Education-being at the forefront of technology is one thing but creating the leaders and managers to exploit this technology is quite another. The British Institute of Technology and E-commerce has one of the largest MBA programmes in the UK and specialises in innovative management and leadership. This has proved to be a great boost for countries that have engaged with our programmes and many of our graduates have moved on to positions of great influence in their home countries.

As the former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Coventry University, I have been externally involved in BITE's quality system and processes. I have tested its standard against QAA practices and I am happy to confirm that BITE has a very high standard of delivery and support for students. This is enhanced with very high level full-time, part-time, visiting and guest faculties.

BITE has developed a range of technical solutions to ensure that you have access to learning material and reference libraries to support your learning and development through our online learning environment NETED. These developments underpin our accreditation by various universities, governments and standards agencies to confirm the quality of our programmes. Our global faculty of university staff from some of the finest universities in the UK and abroad are continually improving and refining the quality of our provision. In this way we provide our students with a learning and development experience drawing upon the finest heritage of university teaching in the UK today.

My work with the UK Quality Assurance Agency and corporate partners here and overseas in embedding high quality curriculum has helped me to bring together a quality enhancement group at BITE that will ensure that the quality of your experience and those that teach you will be first class and consistent.
