General Information
Change Of Course |
• The institute reserves the right to refuse changes of course for students who have applied through the TIER 4 Visa system.
• By applying and paying a deposit for a program you are acknowledging your commitment to study that program. We will not entertain requests when a student arrives for changes of course.
• The institute in London is the only authorised body for changes of program and we do not currently accept this. Please make sure you have selected the right program and have enough information before making a final decision.

English Proficiency |
• For Masters and Bachelors programs students should have achieved a level of competency in English that permits them to enrol on our courses. • IELTS is mandatory for all new applications. • We have introduced a telephone screening system; this means that all overseas candidates will have a telephone interview, all telephone interviews are recorded. • If you have not had a telephone screening then you should contact the admissions team on +442085523071 to arrange this. • The interview will take approximately 15 minutes and you will be asked a series of questions. If any student arrives in the UK and it is clear that they were not the telephone screened candidate, then the Institute will consider this as misleading and inform the UKBA. It is not acceptable for a potential student to travel knowing that their English is not of a high enough standard to study in the medium of English.

Accommodation Support |
• The British Institute of Technology and E-Commerce can arrange your accommodation if required. • In order to do this sufficient notice of your requirements and a deposit will be needed. If you arrive in the UK and have not confirmed your accommodation requirements 6 weeks in advance and paid the full deposit then we may not be able to assist you. • The institute reserves the right to offer accommodation of the same standard in an alternative location if it is deemed necessary. • The student remains responsible directly to their landlord for payment of rent; the institute is unable to intervene if the student fails to make payment for their accommodation.

Travel Date |
• If you’re VISA has been issued and you are not able to arrive in the UK before the final date to start the course (shown on your CAS record) you should contact the institute before travelling. • The fact the VISA has been issued does not mean that the enrolment on the program for that semester is available if the last date to start the program has passed. • We would strongly advise you do not travel before confirmation is gained from the admissions team

International Students and Sickness |
• It should be noted that becoming ill itself is not a breach of the terms of a student VISA. However taking a break in your study will affect your immigration status. If you become ill you should report your expected absence to the relevant department for your course. This notification should be formally in writing. You would be expected to submit a doctor’s note for any prolonged absence from study. • If your illness is likely to cause disruption to your study or you are unable to submit assignments we would advise that you defer your study. You should make arrangements to depart the UK and arrange to continue study when you are able. • You will usually need to apply for a new tier 4 student VISA.

International students taking a break in study for pregnancy |
• An International student should seek advice from an immigration solicitor as early on in their pregnancy or prior to pregnancy if possible. Becoming pregnant is not a breach of the terms of a student VISA. However taking a break in your study will affect your immigration status. We would advise that you return home after submitting a request for a break in your study as you are unlikely to be entitled to any maternity benefit in the UK. • You should check with individual airlines for their policies as most airlines will not carry passengers after seven months of pregnancy. Therefore please make plans to return to your home country whilst you are still able to fly. You can apply to resume your full time studies from overseas but you would have to apply for a new VISA. Please speak to your program administrator for advice on suspending your study and returning home. As we are not able to provide immigration advice you may be referred to an immigration solicitor who may charge you for services and advice. • International students who are on a dependants VISA can make changes to their study status without any immigration implications.
