Students will then be able to use their ID card to borrow books from the Library, although confirmation of registration may take up to 24 hours.

Borrowing Books

Staff and students may borrow up to 4 books at any one time. Books are loaned for one week and are due back on or before the date stamped in the front of the book but can be renewed by phone or in person for one further week only, if not requested by another reader.

To borrow material users must present their ID card which is also the Library borrower card together with the items to be borrowed to the Library Helpdesk.

Students are recommended to limit themselves to one book per subject category to maximise the availability of popular material.

Users are responsible for knowing the conditions for loan and return and for the safe and timely return of all material by the due date. Charges of 50p per book per working day are made for late return and the replacement cost of damaged or lost books will be charged to the user. All charges must be paid in cash before further books can be issued.

Books must be returned in person and cannot be re-issued to the same person for 24 hours.

Accessing the Library Catalogue

The library catalogue is available from the BITE Website www.bite.ac.uk. The catalogue enables you to search by author title or subject all books in the Newton Library.

The catalogue entry for each item provides details of the location on the shelf and if it is available for loan or already on loan. Books on loan can be reserved; please ask at the Library Help Desk.
